Buhala Lodge

Thank you all at Buhala lodge for giving us an absolutely fantastic experience. The lodge itself had a really welcoming atmosphere and the rooms with a view towards Crocodile river was just fantastic. The friendly and personal service given to us was really appreciated and a big thank you to Connor, our professional and knowledgable ranger that gave us so much new insights of the wild life and letting us see all big five plus so much more. We now have a completely different view of wild dogs. We couldn’t wish for more than this. We are two couples that spent three weeks travelling around in South Africa but the four nights at Buhala lodge (24-28 January) was absolutely our best stay. Be sure that we will come back again one day.

What a place, incredible views over Crocodile River with various wildlife on show ( you must take some binoculars) it was breathtaking.. The Staff were 1st Class , nothing was ever too much of a problem & the food on offer was bordering on Fine Dining at its best.. Having also organised a game of golf at Leopard Creek the process was seamless with transfers organised by the staff at Buhala & what an experience that was , expensive but worth every penny for the memories..The only issue was we didn’t stay for longer at the Lodge.. Fantastic experience & a must visit 🙏

Our family had the most amazing holiday at Buhala! The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The rooms were large, beautiful and the views were stunning. The meals were fabulous. We could not have asked for a better experience at the lodge and on our safari! Our guide was very knowledgeable and made our days fun. Our children can't stop talking about all they learned and seeing the Big 5. This was everything we could have hoped for in this once in a lifetime experience for our family. We did not want this time to end and hope we can one day return.

We had the pleasure of spending six days in Room 13,the biggest of the Kruger Park balcony rooms. The room is enormous with separate walk through dressing room with masses of storage space, bathroom with tub and rain shower and separate toilet. Decor throughout the hotel is very much colonial style with plenty of space for sitting outside watching game. A young male elephant was a regular visitor and there is birdlife aplenty. The swimming pool is warm but not easy to swim in as the pool cleaner is permanently attached and there is a large TV room. Service from Bianca, Elsa and Alli is lovely and all their support staff are very friendly. There is a nice choice at breakfast and dinner is three courses. Food overall is good, some dishes better than others and portions very large. There is a four day repeat cycle on the menu but if you want something simple, like a salad, they are flexible. We did not take advantage of the safaris on offer having been in the National Park for ten days and nor are we golfers so we just spent the time relaxing around the lodge. It was an ideal place to unwind after several days of early rising for game drives and we would have no hesitation in coming back.

A very nice, quiet hotel with a fantastic view to Crocodile River with Hippos, crocodiles,elephants, buffalos, kudos and all kind of animals. The staff is very kindly and helpfull - the food is exelent. the rooms are a little bit "tiree" with minimal space for your luggage. In fact you have to "live in your suitcase"! In all - a very nice hotel with a fantastic location.

excellent location, great atmosphere, lovely food en wonderful staff. in short a superb choice for a wonderful experience. a young and top ranger called Connor helped us to create safari memories for life. we enjoyed every second here. all rooms are nice but the two lodges with mini pools are just one of the nicests rooms i experienced in SA.
